On Wednesday, June 11, 2014 RoundTable and Guilty Pleasure partnered together for the REDROADSHOW event ‘Grey Matters: How a porn saturated culture is affecting our brains and why should we care?’ This video is part one of the recording.

Pastor Sandy Citro from Cross Culture opened the event quoting:

“It is easier to get pornography than it is to avoid it; we have protected the rights of those who wish to live in a pornified culture while altogether ignoring the interests of those who do not.”

-Pornified: How pornography is transforming our lives, our relationships and our culture by Pamela Paul.

“Porn … is the new universally shared experience. The nation has been “pornified.” It’s everywhere. It’s open 24/7. And chances are good, judging from research into internet habits, that before or after reading this post, a high percentage of you will visit a porn site … The point is, if you did, you are hardly alone.”

-The Pornification of Human Consciousness by William Todd Shultz

Sandy then went on to present some powerful statistics:

  • Of people who use the internet 43% visit pornographic sites, one third of them are women
  • 70% of men aged 18-24 visit porn sites monthly
  • Sex and porn are among the top five most frequently used search terms for children under 18
  • Only 3% of adult websites require verification of age before viewing

Needless to say, our culture is saturated with porn.

After Sandy introduced the event, a video was played which showed more statistics about pornography. If you would like to see the introduction video, you can view it on our about us page.

Guilty Pleasure founder, Jason Huxley, then got up and shared his story from having struggled with porn to starting Guilty Pleasure.
